Meet the Editors for SN Comprehensive Clinical Medicine

Massoud Mahmoudi


Massoud Mahmoudi practices Internal Medicine and Allergy and Immunology in Los Gatos, California. He is is part of the clinical faculty of Rowan University, Touro University and the University of California, San Francisco, where he is currently Professor of Medicine. Dr. Mahmoudi has published numerous peer-reviewed scientific papers and has edited/authored 11 books, among which is a best seller immunology book, Immunology Made Ridiculously Simple. Before becoming the Editor-in-Chief of SN Comprehensive Clinical Medicine, he was the Section Editor of Medicine for Springer Plus.

Dr. Mahmoudi received his PhD degree in Microbiology from the University of North Texas, studying interferon and oncogenes, and subsequently completed three postdoctoral fellowships at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. After obtaining his medical degree, he completed an internship at Yale University School of Medicine, a residency at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (now Rowan University), and a fellowship in Allergy and Clinical Immunology at the University of California, Davis. He is a fellow of the American College of Physician (ACP), American College of Chest Physician (ACCP), and American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology (AAAA&I).

Jessica Y. Vargas

Jessica Y. Vargas is a biologist with more than 15 years of research experience in neuroscience. Jessica works as Associate Researcher in Ype Elgersma’s laboratory at Erasmus Medical Center (Rotterdam, The Netherlands), joining SN Comprehensive Clinical Medicine in February 2019. She obtained her Ph.D. in Cellular and Molecular Biology from P. Catholic University of Chile (Santiago, Chile) and worked as a postdoctoral fellow at the Pasteur Institute (Paris, France), studying the mechanisms underlying the propagation of α-synuclein in Parkinson’s disease.

Devasenathipathy Kandasamy

Devasenathipathy Kandasamy is a radiologist with more than 10 years of research and clinical experience; his areas of interest are pediatric and endocrine imaging. He is currently the vice president of the Indian Society of Vascular and Interventional Radiology (Delhi Chapter) and member of the Executive Committee of the Indian Society of Pediatric Radiology. He has over 50 indexed publications in various journals and has been a Section Editor for Imaging at SN Comprehensive Clinical Medicine since its launch in July 2018.

Dr. Kandasamy obtained his medical degree from Madras Medical College (Chennai, India) and had his Radiology training from All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi. He is a fellow of the Royal College of Radiologists (FRCR) since 2010 and a cum laude awardee from the Radiological Society of North America in 2015.

Maximilian F. Reiser

Maximilian F. Reiser served as president of the European Congress of Radiology (2008), president of the European Society of Radiology (2010-2011) and Editor-in-Chief of the journal European Radiology (2014-2017). He has also served as president of the German Radiological Society and the European Society of Musculoskeletal Radiology. He has been Chairman of Radiology at the University of Bonn and at the Ludwig Maximilians University, and from 2008 to 2015 he was Dean of Medicine at the Ludwig Maximilians University. He has been a Section Editor for Imaging at SN Comprehensive Clinical Medicine since its launch in July 2018.

Prof. Reiser received his medical degree from the Ludwig Maximilians University of Munich in 1973. He also received an honorary doctorate from the veterinary faculty of Ludwig Maximilians University and Tiflis State University. Among the many awards he has received throughout his career are the Honorary Fellowship of the Royal College of Radiologists and the American College of Radiology. He has also been awarded by the German Radiological Society and the European Society of Radiology.

Paolo Martelletti

Paolo Martelletti is Chairman of Internal and Emergency Medicine, Associate Professor and Chair of the Residency Program in Internal Medicine at Sapienza University of Rome, Department of Clinical and Molecular Medicine. He has been the Section Editor for Medicine at SN Comprehensive Clinical Medicine since its launch in July 2018.

Prof. Martelletti also served as President of the European Headache Federation (2016-2018), Editor-in-Chief (Founding) of The Journal of Headache and Pain, Springer Nature (2000-present); Co-Editor-in-Chief of the Handbook of Headache, Springer Verlag (2011); Series Editor of EHF Headache Book Series, Springer Switzerland (2015-present); Chairman (Co-Founder) of Lifting The Burden, in Official Relations with WHO (2009-2016); Project Team Member, WHO Atlas of Headache Disorders, WHO (2011); European Expert, European Medicine Agency (2016-present).
