Applied Composite Materials

An International Journal for the Science and Application of Composite Materials

Publishing model:

Aims and scope

This International Journal is dedicated to the publication of original full-length papers, review articles and short communications of the highest quality that advance the development and application of engineering composite materials. These papers should identify problems that limit the performance and reliability of the composite material and composite part; and they should propose solutions to those problems that lead to innovation in design and the successful exploitation and commercialisation of composite materials across the widest spectrum of engineering uses.

Papers that lead to the development and the manufacture of composite materials should focus on the quantitative descriptions of material systems and processing routes, together with a sound understanding of the physical processes and mechanisms that occur in the material during the shaping operations.

Papers on the integration of composite selection and innovation in mechanical design should discuss issues at the micro and macro levels of structure that lead to the optimisation of composite material properties, component performance, durability and lifetime.

Papers may include a knowledge of reactions between fibre and matrix in processing or between composite material and environment in service. Such understanding should be applied to the successful design and exploitation of the composite system and the composite component. Papers will include a knowledge of the management of time-dependent changes in microscopic and macroscopic structure and its exploitation from the material's conception through to its eventual obsolescence.
