Apress and Humble Bundle encourage kids who code with “Code Your Own Games” charity bundle

Humble Bundle is partnering with leading computer science publisher Apress for the Humble Book Bundle: Code Your Own Games, a Santa bag full of programming guides offered for as little as $1, with each purchase supporting the educational efforts of Maker Initiative and Girls Who Code.
By Monday, December 19, over 14,000 gaming fans had purchased the charity bundle.
The $15 ebook bundle is packed with over $500 worth of programming ebooks exclusively about game programming, The bundle offers coding instruction at every level – from beginner to advanced. Readers can learn how to code app- or arcade-style games to play on their phones, tablets, or laptops with Unity, Android Studio, RPG Maker, Java, and Swift, polishing their skills with these popular developer tools.
As with all Humble Bundles, customers can choose how their purchase dollars are allocated, between the publisher and charity, during this holiday season of giving.
The Bundle also supports the educational program at the National Videogame Museum in Texas, according to Welmoed Spahr, Managing Director of Apress. “The Humble Bundle allows Apress to give back to organizations that are educating the next generation of programmers and software developers, our core readership for Apress ebooks.”
The package includes recent titles Make a 2D Arcade Game in A Weekend, Learn Unity 3D, and the bestseller, The Game Maker’s Apprentice.
