Science and Engineering Ethics

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Sven Nyholm as the new Area Editor for Ethics of A.I. in Science and Engineering Ethics.

In his new role, Sven will be responsible for overseeing the screening of articles in the field of Ethics of A.I. following the standard peer review procedure of the journal. In addition, Sven will offer guidance on collection proposals for the journal and have an advisory role to the EiC regarding the performance and responsibilities of Associate Editors within the area.

Please join us in welcoming Sven to this important position, and we look forward to his contributions to the journal’s continued growth and excellence.

As of 2025, Dena Plemmons will step down as Editor-in-Chief of Science and Engineering Ethics.

We extend our deepest thanks to Dena for her exceptional leadership and invaluable contributions to the journal. Under her guidance, Science and Engineering Ethics has earned a strong reputation in the field. Notably, the journal published its most downloaded article, The Boeing 737 MAX: Lessons for Engineering Ethics, which has exceeded 125,000 individual downloads. We anticipate the journal’s total usage will surpass 1 million downloads in 2024. Dena also played a key role in overseeing the transition to full Open Access and Continuous Article Publishing, leaving the journal in a strong position for continued growth.

We would also like to express our gratitude to Lida Anestidou for her dedicated support throughout Dena’s tenure.

We are excited to announce that Science and Engineering Ethics has now become a fully open access (OA) journal as of January 2024. This means that we will only be publishing articles as Open Access meaning content will be and freely available to readers worldwide, enabling the widest possible dissemination and reuse.
