Series Editors: Bellomo, Nicola, Tezduyar, Tayfun E.

ISSN: 2164-3679

A product of Birkhäuser Boston

The MSSET series publishes advanced textbooks, expository monographs, problem-solving guides, handbooks, and general references. Books examine and utilize the modeling and simulation of systems in applied sciences, mathematics, and engineering. The goal is to create a bridge between applied mathematicians, scientists, and research engineers utilizing modeling methods, tools, and techniques for complex problem solving. The general framework is that of applied and industrial mathematics.

The series aim is to provide general science and engineering readerships with the essential (and practical) methodological information on modeling methods while developing guidelines to formulate and solve technical problems

Key Topics and Areas of Focus for the Series:

- Mathematical modeling of systems of applied sciences: economics, applied physics, biology, chemistry, medicine, life sciences
- Mathematical methods to recover qualitative and quantitative information for problems related to model analysis methods and algorithms for scientific computations of practical utility for model analysis and simulations
- Modeling in engineering sciences and technology
- Dynamical systems models and methods
- Computational methods in applied sciences
- Modeling applications using ODEs and PDEs
- Mechanical sciences: fluid dynamics, solid mechanics

Series publications are addressed to graduate students, practitioners, and researchers working in all disciplines of applied and engineering sciences. Particular attention will be focused on an accessible style of presentation that provides necessary technical background for a diverse, interdisciplinary readership.
