Aims and Scope
Systems & Control: Foundations & Applications aims to publish top quality state-of-the-art textbooks and research monographs at the graduate and post-graduate levels in systems, control, and related fields. Books in the series take care to explain and build upon the essential foundational elements of the field. Additionally, established and emerging applications are developed and utilized in an effort to demonstrate the most recent advances in systems and control. The study spans the gamut of areas from information technology (particularly networked systems and communication networks), to biotechnology (particularly systems biology) and economics.
The Birkhäuser Series Control Engineering examines the industrial and applied implementation of control. Systems & Control complements this effort through a study of the abstract and theoretical mathematical aspects of control. The series attempts to find the latest innovations in theory and analysis; innovations that are often the backbone for real-world applications.
The series includes advanced books, graduate-level textbooks, and research monographs on current and emerging topics in systems, control, and related fields.
Readership
The publications will appeal to a broad interdisciplinary readership of mathematically-oriented engineers, scientists, and economists at the graduate and post-graduate levels. Students and researchers in these fields will benefit from the comprehensive analysis and groundbreaking theoretical exploration. Theorists and practitioners in industry and academia will find the publications accessible across the varied terrain of systems and control research.
