The focus of this thematic issue is on original research papers with novel findings and new results meetings the highest scientific standards in the research field outlined above. Review papers are typically rejected. They are only exceptionally accepted if they are tackling a clearly new question and / or providing new and in-depth insights into a specific topic. 

Papers must be submitted electronically via https://www.editorialmanager.com/bcab/default2.aspx. All manuscripts submitted to this thematic issue will go through a stringent peer review process managed by the editorial staff of the journal, and only those that are accepted after peer review will be published. The manuscripts must be prepared strictly following the guidelines of the journal; otherwise, they will be rejected (see https://www.springer.com/journal/13399/submission-guidelines#Instructions%20for%20Authors_Open%20Choice). Please also have a closer look at the rules related to self-citation as well as plagiarism. To ensure that all manuscripts are correctly identified for inclusion into the special issue, it is important to answer ‘Yes’ to the question ‘Is this submission for a special issue?’ and provide the title “Conversion of processing waste from seafood, agro and allied sector into functional components: Extraction, characterization and applications”.
