Food Security – The Science, Sociology and Economics of Food Production and Access to Food is an interdisciplinary journal that address the global challenges and constraints to achieving food security worldwide, and the science that this goal requires.

Food Security:

  • addresses food security and food systems as a whole, covering production, stability, access, stocks, markets, trade, and nutrition;
  • considers the Global South as well as the Global North;
  • addresses the physical, biological, sociological, economical, and technological constraints to food production and to accessing a healthy diet.
  • covers the sociological contexts of food production, access, quality, and consumption.
  • addresses the policies that affect global food needs.
  • was founded by Richard Strange and Peter Scott as an official publication of the International Society for Plant Pathology (ISPP).
  • authors have a choice between publishing their work under the subscription model (publication free of charge) or as Open Access (with APC fee).
