Aims and scope

Rendiconti is the interdisciplinary scientific journal of the Accademia dei Lincei, the Italian National Academy, situated in Rome, which publishes original articles in the fields of geosciences, environmental sciences, and biological and biomedical sciences. Particular interest is accorded to papers dealing with modern trends in the natural sciences, with interdisciplinary relationships and with the roots and historical development of these disciplines.

The Academy was founded in 1603 and as such was the first worldwide example of a scientific body dedicated to “acquiring science and transferring it to others in the form of oral and written texts”. This activity played an important role in early developments of astronomy, physics and the natural sciences. Galileo was among its first members, together with one of the earliest groups of researchers in the fields of botany, geology and zoology.

In its present form Rendiconti has a history of 146 years, and has hosted publications by such leading scientists as Fermi, Golgi, Grassi, Sella and Volterra. Italian and foreign scientists are invited to contribute. All papers are submitted to peer review.

Only texts in English are solicited. Contributions in the form of reviews, as well as theoretical and experimental papers, are welcome. Book reviews and chronicles of the Academy are provided by the editors.

This journal also publishes special/guest-edited issues. The peer review process for these articles is the same as the peer review process of the journal in general. Additionally, if the guest editor(s) authors an article in their special issue, they will not handle the peer review process.
