Innovations in Systems and Software Engineering - Call for Papers: Carbon Aware Computing

Guest Editors

Scope

The energy consumption costs of computing associated with activities such as artificial intelligence, blockchain, data centers, supercomputing, and cryptographic applications, has gained increased public attention.

In response, governments, businesses and advocacy groups are requiring reduction of these costs. Activities in response to these mandates are often called “carbon aware computing,” “power aware computing” or “energy efficient computing.”

Increasing demands for greater energy efficiency for services and products, requires a new set of principles and a research agenda with an appropriate framework for computing and systems engineers. Enablers for carbon aware computing include new hardware and software and rethinking of existing optimization techniques for time and memory tradeoffs that can be adapted for energy efficiency. Algorithm efficiency is also extremely important.

For this special issue, we invite researchers, academicians, and professionals to contribute research papers expressing their ideas and research in Carbon Aware Computing. We are interested in full length, original and unpublished papers, based on theoretical and experimental contributions.

Submission guidelines

Papers must be prepared in accordance with the Journal guidelines: https://www.springer.com/journal/11334/submission-guidelines  (this opens in a new tab)

Submitted papers should present original, unpublished work, relevant to one of the topics of the special issue. All submitted papers will be evaluated on the basis of relevance, significance of contribution, technical quality, scholarship, and quality of presentation, by at least three independent reviewers. It is the policy of the journal that no submission, or substantially overlapping submission, be published or be under review at another journal or conference at any time during the review process. Manuscripts will be subject to a peer reviewing process and must conform to the author guide lines available on the ISSE website at: https://www.springer.com/journal/11334 (this opens in a new tab)

Author Resources

Authors are encouraged to submit high-quality, original work that has neither appeared in, nor is under consideration by other journals.
