Computational Science, an emerging and increasingly vital field, is now widely recognized as an integral part of scientific and technical investigations, affecting researchers and practitioners in areas ranging from aerospace and automotive to biochemistry, electronics, geoscience,mathematics, and physics. Computer systems research and the exploitation of systems research results naturally complement each other.
The sheer size of many challenges in computational science demands the use of supercomputing, parallel processing, sophisticated algorithms, and advanced system software and architecture. It is therefore invaluable to have input by systems research experts in applied computational science research.
This Transactions series focuses on computational science in parallel and distributed environments, also encompassing the underlying theoretical foundations and the applications of large-scale computation.
The Transactions on Computational Science offers practitioners and researchers the opportunity to share computational techniques and solutions in this area, to identify new issues, and to shape future directions for research, as well as to enable industrial users to apply leading-edge large-scale high-performance computational methods.
In addition to addressing research and application issues, the series aims to present material that is validated -- crucial to the application and advancement of the work performed in both research laboratories and industry. In this spirit, the focus is on publications that present results and computational techniques that are verifiable. Authors will receive criticism by experts, including researchers and practitioners.

Proposals for Special Issues should be sent directly to Editor-in-Chief Prof. Marina Gavrilova, email@example.com, and contain subject area, objective, scope, motivation, list of international reviewers, and detailed timelines.
Special Issues following established internationally recognized events are accepted for consideration under the following conditions: between 1% to 20% of the highest-ranked full papers can be invited to the SI (minimum issue size is 14 papers of 12 to 20 pages in length), at least 50% new material must be included in each submission, and each submission must undergo an additional round of reviewing. The final decision regarding the acceptance of the SI will be communicated once the event has successfully taken place.
For Thematic Special issues, once the topic of the SI has been negotiated with the prospective Guest Editor, the Guest Editor may send out the Call for Papers and start advertising the publication and collecting the papers. The final decision on whether the SI will be published as part of the TCS Journal will be made by the Editors-in-Chief subject to submission deadlines being met, a sufficient number of articles being received, the refereeing process being transparent, and the quality and scope of the final articles selected meeting TCS standards.
If you are submitting an extended version of a previously published conference paper, please make sure significant improvements/changes have been made to the original paper and kindly provide full details of these improvements and changes along with your submission, in your correspondence with the Editor-in-Chief or Guest Editor handling the Special Issue. The original conference proceedings paper must be properly cited in the reference section of your paper and the statement "A preliminary version of this work has been reported [citation]" included in the introduction.
