Innovative Infrastructure Solutions - Special Issues

Innovative Infrastructure Solutions (IISS) hosts special issues from time to time. The review process for special issue papers is conducted by at least an Associate Editor of the IISS together with the Guest Editors. The special issue process is as follows:

1) A special issue Coordinator (one Guest Editor) contacts the Publishing Editor and the Managing Editor to describe the projected special issue and to offer to coordinate the review/publication process in close collaboration with at least one Associate Editor of the IISS.
2) If the Publishing Editor and the Managing Editor agree to proceed, the Coordinator sends a list of papers to be submitted to the Managing Editor and the Production Department (emails below). The list includes the titles and authors, including all co-authors, of each paper.
3) The Coordinator is informed that submissions for the special issue can begin. The submission web-site is updated to include a drop-down list of paper types, from which the author will choose the appropriate “special issue” option when submitting the paper.
4) Authors may suggest potential reviewers (including emails) for their submission. These potential reviewers should not be authors or co-authors of any other submissions for the special issue.
5) The review process follows usual IISS procedures. In order for the special issue to appear relatively quickly, manuscripts for which the decision is “reject” or “reject and resubmit” will not be eligible for inclusion. Deadlines for major revisions will be strictly observed: If authors cannot meet the deadlines, their manuscript will not be eligible for inclusion.
6) Papers are published online as they are accepted. The paper issue is published after the review process for all submitted papers is completed.
7) In order to tie the papers together, a footnote prepared by the Coordinator is included in the title page of the published version of each paper.
8) The Coordinator provides a short (less than one page) front piece which describe the motivation for the special issue. This front piece is published in the paper version of the special issue and is not referable.

    Aims and Scope



    The journal aims to present innovative studies serving the general disciplines of the sustainable infrastructures and geotechnical engineering. This journal also has a special intention to help the worldwide countries to develop their existing and new infrastructures in terms of mitigating and adapting to Climate Change. Worldwide engineers are invited to submit their contributions, and to transfer the knowledge between the worldwide researchers. This journal accepts Technical notes, Technical papers, Review paper, and State-of-the-art papers. Theoretical papers are welcomed, but there should be a clear and significant potential for practical application of the theory. Practice-oriented papers and case studies are particularly welcomed and encouraged.

    B-    Soil and Rock Mechanics, Geomechanics, Mining, and Geological engineering;

    C-    Computational Mechanics, Innovative Soil Models, Discrete Element and Boundary Element Modelling, Mesoscale Modeling,  and Advanced Numerical and Analytical Analyses;

    D-    Oil and Gas, and Petroleum Geotechnical Engineering; and

    E-    Geosciences, Geomatics, Geoinformatics, Geophysics and Global Hazards.


    2-    Sustainable Civil Infrastructure; which includes:

    1- Engineering Structures, 2- Bridges Engineering, 3- Tunneling Engineering, 4- Airports and Pavement Engineering, 5- Transportation Engineering, 6- Railroad and Railway Engineering, 7- Dams Engineering, Canals and Levees, and Irrigation and Water Sources and Structures, 8- Ports, Offshore and Marine Technologies:

     a-    Sustainability, Energy Engineering, Global Climate Change, and Environmental and Waste Management and Remediation;

    B-    Materials Engineering, Materials and Resource Conservation, Nanotechnologies, Advances in Composite Materials, Climate-Friendly Technologies, Damage Mechanics, Structural Health Monitoring, and Sustainable Construction Technologies;

    C-    Advanced Analysis for Sustainable Design, Innovative Seismic and Dynamic Analyses, Innovative Technologies for Severe Weathers, and the Mitigation and Adaptation to Climate Change;

    D-    Worldwide innovative procedures and precautions for the Design, Risk Assessment, Fire Sciences, Improvement, Rehabilitation, Surveying, Maintenance Works and Hazards’ Studies; and
