Supply Chain Management (SCM), long an integral part of Operations Management, focuses on all elements of creating a product or service, and delivering that product or service, at the optimal cost and within an optimal timeframe. It spans the movement and storage of raw materials, work-in-process inventory, and finished goods from point of origin to point of consumption. The Springer Series in Supply Chain Management, under the guidance of founding Series Editor Chris Tang, publishes monographs, edited volumes, textbooks and handbooks from leading scholars and practitioners in the field – with a specific focus on topics within the scope of SCM.

Dr. Tang is one of the most prominent names in SCM. He is a former President of POMS (Production and Operations Management Society), as well as a Lifetime Fellow of both POMS and INFORMS (Institute for Operations Research and Management Science), a Senior Research Fellow in the Stanford University Global Supply Chain Management Forum under Dr. Hau Lee, and the Edward W. Carter Chair in Business Administration at UCLA’s Anderson School of Management. He is a prolific author/editor, with five volumes published in Springer’s ISOR series alone.
