In der klinischen Onkologie spielt die exakte Klassifikation der malignen Tumoren in Bezug auf das Ausmaß der Ausbreitung zum Zeitpunkt der Diagnose eine wesentliche Rolle. Diese Klassifikation erfolgt heute nach dem neuen TNM-System, das die neuesten Erkenntnisse berücksichtigt und weltweit vereinheitlicht ist. Die vorliegende 2. Auflage des TNM-Atlas basiert auf der 4. Auflage der TNM-Klassifikation maligner Tumoren. Die verschiedenen TNM/pTNM-Kategorien werden für 47 Tumorlokalisationen in schematischen Abbildungen dargestellt. Damit wird die in der modernen klinischen Onkologie so wichtige Klassifikation maligner Tumoren nach dem TNM-System für den onkologisch tätigen Kliniker und Pathologen erleichtert. Der große Erfolg der 1. Auflage des TNM-Atlas zeigt, daß dieses didaktisch aufgebaute Buch für alle onkologisch tätigen Ärzte ein unerläßliches Hilfsmittel zur Dokumentation und Stadienbestimmung von Krebserkrankungen ist.
