About this book

Lisa Gerlach beschäftigt sich mit der Faltung von Membranproteinen – einem komplexen Prozess, der mehrere Faltungsfaktoren erfordert. Sie beschreibt die Funktion des Membran-gebundenen BamB als Faltungshelferprotein für Außenmembranproteine (OMPs) in Gram-negativen Bakterien und seine Bedeutung für den Membranaufbau. Dazu isoliert sie BamB aus Escherichia coli in denaturierter Form. Ausgewählte biochemische und biophysikalische Methoden demonstrieren die Renaturierung von BamB in vorpräparierte Lipid-Modellmembranen und zeigen die Funktion von BamB auf, die Faltung und Insertion des OmpA zu erleichtern.
