Marlies Whitehouse erforscht an der Zürcher Hochschule für Angewandte Wissenschaften ZHAW die Produktion und Rezeption von Finanztexten. Dabei baut sie auf 20 Jahre praktische Erfahrung in Finanzanalyse und -kommunikation. Sie ist Schatzmeisterin der International Association of Applied Linguistics AILA und Mitherausgeberin des International Journal of Business Communication IJBC. Als Schreibcoach berät sie internationale Unternehmen.
