​Die Ausrichtung von Unternehmen auf den Shareholder-Value wird von Informationsineffizienzen in der Preisbildung am Markt und von Informationsasymmetrien zwischen dem Management eines Unternehmens und der Financial Community begleitet. Michael Ruf entwirft ein Finanzinformations- und Kommunikationsmodell, um den Informationsfluss an den Kapitalmarkt zu systematisieren und eine strategische und operative Steuerung der Investor Relations von Unternehmen zu ermöglichen. Die Architektur des entwickelten Modells gibt einen grundsätzlichen Rahmen für die Strukturierung der Kapitalmarktkommunikation vor und das Implementierungsvorgehen beschreibt die Umsetzung in der Praxis. Insgesamt dient das Modell einer Professionalisierung der Investor Relations sowie einer Verbesserung der Informationsbasis von Investoren und Multiplikatoren.
