- About this book
-
Since the industrial revolution, chlorine remains an iconic molecule even though its production by the electrolysis of sodium chloride is extremely energy intensive. The rationale behind this book is to present useful and industrially relevant examples for alternatives to chlorine in synthesis. This multi-authored volume presents numerous contributions from an international spectrum of authors that demonstrate how to facilitate the development of industrially relevant and implementable breakthrough technologies. This volume will interest individuals working in organic synthesis in industry and academia who are working in Green Chemistry and Sustainable Technologies.
- About the authors

Pietro Tundo, Editor, is Full Professor of Organic Chemistry at the University of Venice. He has published over 200 scientific articles, one book, and holds twenty-five patents. His research on Clean Processes led to the development of Gas-Liquid Phase-Transfer Catalysis, a method for the synthesis of Non-Steroidal Anti-inflammatory Drugs. Professor Tundo is the founder of the IUPAC International Conferences Series on Green Chemistry. He also coordinated many institutional and industrial research projects (EU, NATO, Dow, ICI, Roquette) and was Director of the 10 editions of the annual Summer School on Green Chemistry (Venezia, Italy) sponsored by the EU, UNESCO and NATO.
