About this book

Since the third edition of The Fundamentals of Nuclear Pharmacy was pub lished in 1992, radiopharmaceutical chemistry and various aspects of nuclear medicine have experienced significant growth and development. The new information plus the appreciation of the book in the nuclear medicine community have prompted us to publish a new edition. As with the past editions, this fourth edition is primarily based on the contents of various courses given over several decades to nuclear pharmacy students, nuclear medicine and radiology residents, and nuclear medicine technology students. The book is written in chronological order from the basic atomic structure to the clinical uses of radiopharmaceuticals. It serves as a textbook on nuclear pharmacy for nuclear pharmacy and nuclear medi cine technology students as well as a reference book for many professionals interested in nuclear medicine, such as nuclear medicine physicians and radiologists. There are 15 chapters in the book. At the end ofeach chapter a set of pertinent questions and some suggested reading materials are included.

Reviews

From reviews of the Third Edition:

"…the strengths of this edition, coupled with its currentness, make this book today's frontrunner among introductory radiopharmacy texts." -Clinical Nuclear Medicine

"…an excellent overview of all different aspects of nuclear pharmacy…consistent, well-written, concise…. I can recommend it as a reference in nuclear pharmacy and as a textbook for nuclear medicine technologists."-European Journal of Nuclear Medicine

RAD Magazine, September, 2005:

Generally, this text is comprehensive and well-written.

I would recomment this book and ... it is a book which should reside on many nuclear medicine bookshelves.

From the reviews of the fifth edition:

"This book is the fifth edition of a useful guide to the science and application of radiopharmaceuticals. Generally, the text is comprehensive and well-written. … I would recommend this book and … it is a book which should reside on many nuclear medicine bookshelves." (Dr. H R Stockdale, RAD Magazine, September, 2005)

"This is the fifth edition of a standard textbook of nuclear pharmacy … . The book is intended for a broad population of readers … . would also be appropriate for a survey course in the initial training of nuclear pharmacists. … provides rather comprehensive coverage of all relevant material needed for nuclear pharmacy. … This is a welcome update … . Students of nuclear pharmacy can rely on the accuracy of the content and breadth of the topics covered. … this new edition lives up to the laudable goals of past editions." (William C Cole, www.doody.com, February, 2004)

"The fifth edition of this book has been prompted by its great appreciation in the nuclear medicine community and a constant demand for upgrading with all the new developments in radiopharmaceutical chemistry and clinical nu-clear medicine over the past 6 years. In the revision process, obsolete items have been replaced with new, up-to-date items. … It serves as a textbook on nuclear chemistry and pharmacy for nuclear medicine residents and technologists as well as a reference book for many nuclear medicine physicians and radiologists." (Wordtrade, July, 2008)
