The International Journal of Latin American Religions publishes research and review articles, interviews, conference reports and book reviews that contribute to the scientific study of the history and present situation of Latin American religions, both in the region and among Latin American minorities in different parts of the world. It adopts a multidisciplinary perspective, so it’s open to contributions from different areas of the human sciences, such as sociology, history, psychology, philosophy, anthropology and comparative religion.

The main aims of the journal are to bring Latin American scholarship to a broader audience, to provide new insights and comparative perspectives in issues of common interest of a transnational web of researchers and to contribute to the exchange of relevant knowledge among scholars dedicated to the scientific study of Latin American religions.

The journal publishes two issues per year and only accepts articles in English. Authors can also send abstracts in Spanish and Portuguese. Each issue will have a thematic section dedicated to a specific topic. Researchers can submit Thematic Papers to the thematic section or Original Papers to the general section, which will publish contributions on any subject of the area. It's possible to submit smaller Research Notes to both sections. The journal also welcomes contributions for the sections News and Reports (interviews, conference reports, news and information relevant for the scientific study of Latin American Religions) and Book Reviews, which will publish reviews of thematically relevant, recently published books. Thematic Papers, Original Papers and Research Notes are submitted to international standards of peer review.

The International Journal of Latin American Religions counts with the academic support of the postgraduate program in Religious Studies of the Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo.
