About the Editor

Professor Nikos Karamanos

Nikos Karamanos received his PhD from the University of Patras and performed pre- and postdoctoral research at the Karolinska Institute, Stockholm. He is Professor of Biochemistry at the University of Patras since 2003. Dr. Karamanos is editor and editorial board member of several peer-reviewed journals and books in the field of Extracellular Matrix and Matrix Biology and has chaired a number of scientific conferences. His research focuses on matrix pathobiology, cell signaling, cell functional properties, pharmacological targeting, preclinical evaluation/cytotoxicity and structure analysis with particular emphasis in the role of proteoglycans, glycosaminoglycans and matrix metalloproteinases in health and diseases.
