About the Editors

Bert Gordijn 

Gordijn, Bert, Springer
Bert Gordijn is Chair of Ethics and Director of the Ethics Institute at Dublin City University. In addition, Bert is Secretary of the European Society for Philosophy of Medicine and Health Care. He has doctorates in Philosophy from the Albert Ludwigs University of Freiburg and in Bioethics from the Radboud University Nijmegen. In addition to being Editor-in-Chief of the International Library of Ethics, Law and Technology, he is Editor-in-Chief of two peer reviewed journals: Medicine, Health Care and Philosophy (published by Springer) and Studies in Ethics, Law and Technology (published by Berkeley Electronic Press). Bert has an extensive record of peer reviewed publications and international lectures within the field of ethics, law and technology. He has been appointed to the Scientific Advisory Board of the European Patent Office, the External Science Advisory Panel to the Long-Range Research Initiative of the European Chemical Industry Council and has served on the UNESCO expert committee on ethics and nanotechnology.

Sabine Roeser 

Sabine Roeser
Sabine Roeser is full professor of ethics at the Philosophy Department of TU Delft, Netherlands, where she holds a prestigious Antoni van Leeuwenhoek Chair. Sabine Roeser is head of a research group on Moral Emotions and Risk Politics. She has received highly competitive research grants for her innovative research on risk and moral emotions from the Dutch science foundation NWO. Roeser is former managing director of the 3TU.Centre for Ethics and Technology. Sabine Roeser has published a monograph on Moral Emotions and Intuitions and edited several books with leading scholars, and she has published numerous articles on risk, ethics and emotions. She is member of various editorial boards of journals and book series. Roeser is frequently invited to speak at international academic events. Roeser is regularly interviewed about her work for popular media and she often gives popular lectures. She is a member of various Dutch governmental advisory committees on risk, including the COGEM (committee that advises the Dutch government about genetic modification) and the COVRA/OPERA (Dutch institute for nuclear waste disposal).
