About the Editor

Philippe De Lombaerde is the Director of United Nations University Institute on Comparative Regional Integration Studies (UNU-CRIS). He is also Associate Professor of International Economics at Neoma Business School (Reims - Rouen – Paris) since January 2016 (on leave). Previously, he worked as Director a.i., Associate Director and Research Fellow at UNU-CRIS (2020-21, 2008-16 and 2002-08, respectively), Associate Professor of International Economics at the Universidad Nacional de Colombia (Bogotá) (1997-2004), Researcher and Lecturer at the University of Antwerp (1985-93 and 1999-2002) and as Researcher at the National Institute of Development Administration (NIDA) (Bangkok) (1993-94), among other appointments. Dr De Lombaerde (PhD, RWTH) studied economics, econometrics and political science at the universities of Ghent, Brussels, Antwerp and Aachen. He has been involved in policy research and consultancy projects for the governments of Belgium, Flanders, France, Germany, UK, Colombia and Thailand, and for UNDP, ILO, UNESCO, UNECA, UNESCWA, World Bank, Eurasian Development Bank, European Commission, EUROSTAT, UNASUR, and SADC.

Luk Van Langenhove is a Professor in International Affairs at the Brussels School of Governance. He previously held the position of Director at the United Nations University Institute on Comparative Regional Integration Studies (UNU-CRIS) in Bruges and Representative of the Rector at UNESCO in Paris. Before this, he was Deputy Secretary-General of the Belgian Federal Ministry of Science Policy, Deputy Chief of Cabinet of the Belgian Federal Minister of Science Policy and a researcher and lecturer at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB). From 2006 until 2010 he was Vice-President of the International Social Sciences Council. He currently also teaches at the VUB. Professor Van Langenhove is a graduate of the VUB and received his PhD in Psychology from the same university. He has published widely on regional integration, social sciences theory, positioning theory and psychology.

Glenn Rayp is a part-time Professorial Fellow at UNU-CRIS since April 2017. He worked as a researcher and research assistant at the University of Antwerp, after which he became a Professor in International Economics at Ghent University. Professor Rayp teaches International Economics and History of Economic Thought at Ghent University. He is a former member of the (Belgian) High Council of Finance and the High Council of Employment, as well as the (Flemish) Council of Industry. From 2010 to 2015, he coordinated the FWO research community on Globalisation, Regionalisation and Economic and Social Inequality (GRESI) of which UNU-CRIS was a member. In his most recent research on regional integration, he was involved in the development of composite indicators of regional integration and the analysis of the relationship between regional integration and institutions. He is part of the team that is updating and re-developing the RIKS platform of UNU-CRIS.
