Nonprofit and Civil Society Studies

Research on the nonprofit sector and civil society has gained momentum in recent years. Whereas interest in the institutional arena located between the state and the market remained a small specialty field until the late 1980s, since that time it has become a growth area. Research and funding opportunities have multiplied, as has the number of scholars and practitioners taking part in the development of a broad and ambitious agenda across the major social science disciplines.
