David Weisstub is the Philippe Pinel professor of legal psychiatry and biomedical ethics at the University of Montreal, as well as honorary life president of the International Academy of Law and Mental Health. His honors, awards and decorations include the Chevalier of La Légion d’Honneur of France, a Knighthood in the Order of the Dutch Lion bestowed by Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands, and the designation of Grande Ufficiale granted by President Napolitano of Italy. David has received citations and medals from various institutions, including the University of Paris and the University of Siena. A recipient of the Harold Lasswell Life Achievement Award, he holds honorary doctorates from Sigmund Freud University in Vienna and the University of Liège. His previous poetry collection, Heaven, Take My Hand, was published by McClelland & Stewart in Toronto. David divides his time between Montreal, North Hatley in Québec, and Fort Lauderdale.

Dennis Cooley is Professor of Philosophy and Ethics at North Dakota State University. His teaching and research interests include theoretical and applied ethics with a focus on pragmatism, bioethics, business ethics, personhood, and death and dying. He is the author of Technology, Transgenics, and a Practical Moral Code (Springer, 2009), Death’s Values and Obligations: A Pragmatic Framework (Springer, 2015), and co-edited Passing/Out: Identity Veiled and Revealed (Ashgate, 2012). Cooley is Secretary General of the International Academy of Medical Ethics and Public Health, co-editor of Springer’s International Library of Ethics, Law and the New Medicine, Associate Editor of Elsevier’s Ethics, Medicine and Public Health, and Director of the Northern Plains Ethics Institute at North Dakota State University.
