About this book series
South Asian states are undergoing significant socio-political and economic transformations, impacting the governance and policy realms of the countries. While on the economic front, some countries are registering remarkable progress, most of the countries suffer from the governance crisis hindering the growth process and affecting the life and livelihoods of the common people. One of the striking features of South Asia is that all countries are experiencing creeping authoritarianism and democratic backsliding. When authoritarianism and democratic deficits loom, it is natural that public institutions such as bureaucracy and oversight entities face high challenges to serving objectively, creating a policy void for governance.
In such a context, a deeper analysis of governance, policies, and institutions of South Asian countries from multiple perspectives is needed to add new insights to public administration scholarships and practice and inform the policy communities of the region and beyond.
The South Asian Public Administration series aims at creating a space for academic collaboration of scholars and practitioners to advance new ideas and thoughts on various aspects of development and public administration scholarships. The series welcomes edited volumes and monographs surrounding broader themes of strategic interest to scholars and practitioners across the globe. Volumes should provide nuanced thoughts and insights from both theoretical and policy perspectives.
