About the Editor

Bruce Jennings, MA is Adjunct Associate Professor of Health Policy in the Center for Biomedical Ethics and Society at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. He is also a Fellow and Senior Advisor at The Hastings Center, where he served from 1991 through 1999 as Executive Director. He has been active in the development of the field of public health ethics and taught one of the first courses on that subject in the country at the Yale School of Public Health from 1995-2014. From 2003-2009 he served as member and Chair of the Ethics Advisory Committee at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). From 2017-2019 he was chair of the American Public Health Association (APHA) task force charged with writing a new code of ethics for Public Health, which was approved by the APHA in October 2019. In 2020 he received a Distinguished Career Award from the Ethics Section of the American Public Health Association for his work in public health ethics. A political scientist by training, he has published thirty-one books and numerous articles on bioethics and public policy issues. His current work focuses on the relationship between political philosophy and public health ethics and policy.

Lisa M Lee, PhD, MA, MS
is Associate Vice President for Scholarly Integrity and Research Compliance and faculty in Population Health Sciences at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Virginia. She is an epidemiologist, bioethicist, and ethics educator. She served for 20 years in a variety of roles in federal service, including Executive Director of the Presidential Bioethics Commission in the Obama administration, Chief of Bioethics at Walter Reed Army Institute of Research, and several agency-level leadership roles at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). She was inaugural chair of the Ethics Section of the American Public Health Association, and elected 2021-2023 board chair of the Association for Practical and Professional Ethics.  Her current work focuses on ethics pedagogy, public health ethics, and deliberation as an ethics decision-making method.
