About the Editor

Series Chief Editor: Feng Jin
Prof. Feng Jin is a leading scholar in construction and seismic evaluation of dams in China. He served as Head of Department of Hydraulic Engineering at Tsinghua University from 2006 to 2016, and is currently Changjiang Chair Professor at Tsinghua University. Prof Jin has been awarded the most prestigious National Awards in China five times over the past 20 years, including the National Technology Invention Award 2nd Prize, National Science and Technology Progress Award 2nd Prize (3 times), National Natural Science Award 3rd Prize, and more than ten science and technology awards by State Ministries. Prof. Jin is the inventor of the Rock-filled Concrete Dam technology, and was granted more than 20 national patents. Prof. Jin published  more than 300 research papers, including more than 100 SCI journal papers. He is the lead author of “Technical Guidelines for Cemented Material Dams”, “Design Guidelines for Rock-filled Concrete Dam”, and “Construction Specifications for Rock-fill Concrete” by the Ministry of Water Resources.

Prof. Jin has been served as Principal Investigator for dozens of research projects, and provided expert support to more than 20 large-scale hydraulic projects, including Three Gorges Project, Xiaowan, Ertan, Xiluodu, Xiangjiaba projects etc. He is presently Vice Chairman of Hydraulic Structure Committee of Chinese Hydraulic Engineering Society, Vice Chairman of Hydraulic Engineering Education Committee in the Ministry of Education, and invited board member of International Commission on Large Dams.

Prof. Duruo Huang is Associate Head and Associate Professor in the Department of Hydraulic Engineering, Tsinghua University. She obtained her Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology in 2016. Her areas of research interest include innovate dam construction material, physics-based earthquake simulation, nonlinear numerical modeling of soil-structure interaction, soil liquefaction and landslide hazard. Her research is supported by competitive research grants, and she has been principle investigator leading one General Research Fund by Hong Kong Research Grants Council and the National Young Thousand Talents Award from Chinese Central Government. She published 38 research papers in reputable SCI journals, and delivered more than 5 leading/invited lectures at major national and international conferences. She currently serves as Editorial Board Member of International Journal of Ocean and Coastal Engineering and Guest editor of CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences. She was awarded Bright Spark Lecture award by International Society for Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering (ISSMGE) in 2020, Ringo Yu Prize for Best PhD Thesis in Geotechnical Studies from The Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE) in 2017, and National Young Thousand Talents Award in 2018, which is the most prestigious award from China Central Government for top young scholars.
