About this book series

This book series is a forum for environmental scientists, engineers and educators, involved in any relationship with environmental systems and data, ecosystems, as well as those interested in IT environmental technologies, policy makers, planners, and other environmental information users. The series supports the discussion of latest innovations, uses and applications of environmental informatics and modelling methods, tools and techniques. A distinct dimension of the series focuses on educational aspects, aiming at the publication of books that may serve as undergraduate, graduate and MSc/PhD studies textbooks and references. This series is also devoted to recent and future developments in IT and related methods, and tools in areas like environmental knowledge extraction and data oriented modeling, participatory environmental sensing, heterogeneous environmental data mining and fusion, ontology engineering for the environmental domain, proactive and reactive environmental systems engineering, complex biological systems, ecosystems, etc The Series Editors, Dr. Mikko Kolehmainen (University of Eastern Finland) and Dr. Kostas Karatzas (Aristotle University of Thessaloniki) are currently accepting proposals.
