About the Editor

Dr. Irene Hadiprayito holds a PhD in Human Rights from Utrecht University’s School of Law in the Netherlands and is currently a Lecturer with Leiden University’s International Studies Program. Due to her inter- and multidisciplinary background and approach she has a unique expertise on the political economy of human rights particularly in Indonesia and Southeast Asia. Her research focuses on topics related to food security, socio-economic equality, political agency, and legal pluralism. She has worked as human rights experts in Asia and Africa and been invited as a visiting research fellow by leading research centers in Europe and Asia.

Dr. Chiseche Mibenge holds a PhD in Human Rights from Utrecht University’s School of Law in the Netherlands and is the Director for Community Engaged Learning and Human Rights with Stanford University’s Haas Center for Public Service. Previously, she lectured at the City University of New York, and has served as a gender and human rights consultant by organizations such as Norwegian People’s Aid in Rwanda and the UN in Sierra Leone. She has published widely on armed conflict, transitional justice and gender based violence. Her book Sex and International Tribunals: The Erasure of Gender from the War Narrative was published by University of Pennsylvania Press (2013). Her recent creative writing projects chronicle negotiations around gender, race and sexuality in quotidian life.
