Maria Carla Galavotti

Maria Carla Galavotti is Professor Emerita at the University of Bologna and a member of the German National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina, the Pittsburgh Center for Philosophy of Science and Clare Hall College, Cambridge. She made original research contributions to key issues of contemporary philosophy of science, with special emphasis on the foundations of probability and statistics, and the nature and limits of scientific explanation. Her list of publications includes more than 150 titles.

Wenceslao J. Gonzalez

Wenceslao J. Gonzalez is Professor of Logic and Philosophy of Science at the University of A Coruña. He is a Full Member of the Académie Internationale de Philosophie des Sciences. He was a Team Leader of the European Science Foundation program entitled “The Philosophy of Science in a European Perspective” (2008-2013), Visiting Fellow at the Center for Philosophy of Science (U. Pittsburgh), visiting researcher at the London School of Economics and a member of the National Committee for Evaluation of Scientific Activity (CNEAI) of Spain. He is the director of the Center for Research in Philosophy of Science and Technology at the University of A Coruña, where he organizes annual conferences on Contemporary Philosophy and Methodology of Science. His publications include monographs such as Philosophico-Methodological Analysis of Prediction and its Role in Economics and the edition of 42 volumes on philosophy of science and technology.

Dennis Dieks

Dennis Dieks is Professor (em.) of the Philosophy and Foundations of the Natural Sciences at Utrecht University. He is a member of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences and of several international academic organizations. His research publications concern both questions in general philosophy of science (e.g., explanation and scientific understanding, reduction and emergence) and more technical issues in the foundations of physics (interpretation and foundations of quantum mechanics, space and time, thermodynamics).
