About the Editor

Prof. Chin-Chuan Cheng is a renowned linguistics scholar, and has been an academician of Academia Sinica, and is currently the Chair Professor of the Graduate Institute of Teaching Chinese as a Second Language at NTNU. Prof. Cheng has made significant research contributions in the fields of computational linguistic, Chinese dialectology, digital archives, and e-Learning. Prof. Cheng’s research on A Synchronic Phonology of Mandarin Chinese has contributed significantly to the advancement of research theories in both the study of Chinese language learning and contemporary phonology.

Prof. Kuo-En Chang is President of NTNU and the recipient of numerous prestigious awards such as the NSC’s Outstanding Research Award. He is also the director of several research teams, including the e-Learning and Digital Archives Program and the Center of Excellence for e-Learning. He has developed 17 different learning tools, and he has recently been researching the learning systems for reading, computer-assisted learning, and e-Learning for language acquisition.

Prof. Yao-Ting Sung is the Dean of the Aim for the Top University Project, and the director for the Research Center for Psychological and Educational Testing at NTNU. He has received numerous prestigious research awards such as NSC’s Outstanding Research Award. He is also the head of research teams involved in studies of text readability, diagnostic assessments, e-Learning, and career assessments. He is also involved in the planning of projects such as COOL Chinese, Science Education Research Development White book, and National Science Literacy Planning. The CRIE that Prof. Sung has developed has made substantial contributions and advancements in reading education.

Prof. Sung is currently the editor of the Journal of Research on Education Sciences, and he also serves as the editorial-board member of several journals. Prof. Ping Li is the director of Laboratory for Brain, Language, and Computation at PSU. He has lots of publications in Chinese language acquisition, second language acquisition, applied linguistics, and bilingualism. He is the editor of Bilingualism: Language and Cognition, the associate editor of Frontiers in Language Science, and the editorial board member of Journal of Cognitive Science and Modern Foreign Language. He is also the advisory board member of Linguistics: An Interdisplinary Journal of Language Sciences and that of International Review of Applied Linguistics in Language Teaching.
