Applied Nanoscience now published as an Open Choice subscription journal

Since January 2018, Applied Nanoscience is published as a subscription journal with the option of publishing article open access through Springer's Open Choice model.

Applied Nanoscience indexed in Web of Science (formerly ISI Web of Knowledge)

Applied Nanoscience has been accepted for Science Citation Index Expanded. Beginning from 2014 onwards, the journal content will be indexed and abstracted in Science Citation Index Expanded (also known as SciSearch®), Journal Citation Reports/Science Edition, and Current Contents®/Physical Chemical and Earth Sciences.

Nobel Prize in Chemistry awarded to Sir J. Fraser Stoddart, co-Editor-in-Chief of Applied Nanoscience

J. Fraser Stoddart of Northwestern University and of our own Applied Nanoscience was awarded the 2016 Nobel Prize in Chemistry (along with Jean-Pierre Sauvage and Bernard L. Feringa). They won the prize for their work on nanoscale machinery. Specifically, Professor Stoddart developed a nanoscale ring-and-axle machine that led to the development of molecular lifts, molecular muscles, and a molecule-based computer chip. Professor Stoddart is actually the second SpringerOpen Editor to win a Nobel Prize in recent years for nanoscale work, and we’re thrilled to work with Editors doing such exciting work.

A special issue on the best papers presented at NANO-2017 in Chernivtsi, Ukraine, 2017

The Nanotechnology and Nanomaterials Conference (NANO-2017) was held in Chernivtsi, Ukraine on August 23-26, 2017. This international conference was organized jointly by the Institute of Physics of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Сhernivtsi National University, University of Tartu, University of Turin, and Pierre and Marie Curie University. Near 800 participants from 20 countries took part in NANO-2017.
A special issue on the best papers during the conference will be published in Applied Nanoscience. Many well known researchers from different unviersities and research institutions will share their knowledge and experimental results from different fields ranging from nanoplasmonics, nanooptics, and interface studies to energy storage and biomedical applications. The special issue is edited by Olena Fesenko from Institute of Physics NAS of Ukraine (fesenko@iop.kiev.ua, Fesenko.olena@gmail.com).

    Aims and Scope

Applied Nanoscience is a hybrid journal that publishes original articles about state of the art nanoscience and the application of emerging nanotechnologies to areas fundamental to building technologically advanced and sustainable civilization, including areas as diverse as water science, advanced materials, energy, electronics, environmental science and medicine. It accepts original and review articles as well as book reviews for publication. All the manuscripts are single-blind peer-reviewed for scientific quality and acceptance.

    Broad research areas:

    - Synthesis and characterization of nanomaterials
    - Quantum structure and nanodevices
    - Modeling and computations of nanostructure

    Areas of related applications:

    - Improved Desalination (Water)
    - Enhanced catalysis (Chemistry)
    - Corrosion resistance (Materials)
    - Monitoring nanodevices (Sensors)
    - Renewable energy such as solar cells (Alternate Energy Sources and Storage)
    - Enhanced oil recovery (Oil and Gas)
    - Enhanced well productivity (Oil and Gas)
    - Developments for deep drilling (Oil and Gas)
    - Medical diagnosis & drug delivery (Biotechnology)
