Aims and Scope
Citrus are among the most widely grown and economically important crops in the world. Their primary products include fresh fruit and processed juice which represent a globally traded commodity. In addition, by-products of citrus industry such as pectin and essential oil are widely used in different industries (cosmetics, cleaning, pharmaceutical, etc.) which contribute to increase the economic importance of this crop. It is estimated that more than 50 % of the citrus production costs is due to pest and disease control. Among them, bacterial diseases such as Citrus Variegated Chlorosis, Citrus Canker and Huanglongbing (HLB) are among the most damaging citrus diseases worldwide, especially the latter, introduced more recently into the main citrus production regions of the world.
Current methods for controlling disease vectors, including chemical control, have proven inefficient and prohibitive due to their high economic and environmental costs. It is urgent that new studies are conducted and made available to advance knowledge on biology, host and environmental interaction, epidemiology, diversity, diagnostic, genetic breeding so that disease management can be improved.
In this special issue we invite all members of the scientific community including students, post-docs and researchers who are working on these bacterial diseases to contribute novel data and knowledge to help dealing with management of the most important diseases of citrus crops.
How to contribute
Manuscripts should be formatted according to the journal’s submission guidelines (see Instructions for Authors) and submitted via the online submission system. You will be inquired, during the submission process, if your manuscript is part of a special issue. Please respond “yes” and select the option “Bacterial Citrus Disease”.

Tropical Plant Pathology is an international journal devoted to publishing a wide range of research on fundamental and applied aspects of plant diseases of concern to agricultural, forest and ornamental crops from tropical and subtropical environments. Founded in 1976, the journal is the official publication of the Brazilian Phytopathology Society and currently publishes 6 issues per year.

Submissions must report original research that provides new insights into the etiology and epidemiology of plant disease as well as population biology of plant pathogens, host-pathogen interactions, physiological and molecular plant pathology, and strategies to promote crop protection.

The journal considers for publication: original articles, short communications, reviews and letters to the editor. For more details please check the instructions for authors.
