The Journal of Plant Research is an international journal dedicated to the dissemination of fundamental knowledge in all areas of plant sciences including evolutionary biology, phylogeography, phylogeny, taxonomy, genetics, ecology, morphology, physiology, developmental biology, cell biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, biophysics, bioinformatics, and systems biology.In addition to these disciplines, the journal welcomes papers in interdisciplinary areas and in newly developing areas of basic plant biology. The journal especially encourages publication of work carried out through unique approaches and those reporting unprecedented findings.

Submission of a manuscript implies: that the work described has not been published before (except in form of an abstract or as part of a published lecture, review or thesis); that it is not under consideration for publication elsewhere; that its publication has been approved by all co-authors, if any, as well as tacitly or explicitly by the responsible authorities at the institution where the work was carried out.
