About this book

United Kingdom Health Statistics brings together an up-to-date collection
of statistical information on the health of the population and health and
care services, for the UK as a whole and for its four constituent
countries. It allows comparison between the constituent countries of the UK
of accessible, high quality data from a wide range of sources, both within
government and outside. The topics covered include pregnancy and
childbirth, general health and specific health conditions, mortality and
life expectancy, and prevention and care resources and activities.

The many tables based on up-to-date data are supplemented by spreadsheet
files, giving the equivalent figures for past years, which can be
downloaded from the National Statistics website.

United Kingdom Health Statistics offers an invaluable resource for
organisations in the health and care field, healthcare professionals and
managers, students and many others, who require data on a common basis to
facilitate comparisons between the constituent countries of the UK, or
between the UK and other nation states.

About the author

The OFFICE FOR NATIONAL STATISTICS (ONS) is the government department that provides UK statistical and registration services. ONS is responsible for producing a wide range of key economic and social statistics which are used by policy makers across government to create evidence-based policies and monitor performance against them. The Office also builds and maintains data sources both for itself and for its business and research customers. It makes statistics available so that everyone can easily assess the state of the nation, the performance of government, and their own position.
