Springer sponsors two award lectures in analytical chemistry
Robert Kellner Lecture and DAC-EuChemS Award lecture will be supported by Springer, a part of Springer Nature, at the upcoming webinar of the Division of Analytical Chemistry (DAC) of EuChemS (the European Chemical Society)
Heidelberg | London, 04 May 2021
Springer is sponsoring two key prize lectures at the upcoming webinar, which will be held on September 16, 2021 from 11:00 hrs CEST to 13:30 hrs CEST. The webinar is organized by the Division of Analytical Chemistry (DAC) of EuChemS (the European Chemical Society) and provides participants with an overview of current research in analytical chemistry.
This year’s Robert Kellner Lecture award goes to Karen Faulds, Professor and Head of the Bionanotechnology and Analytical Research Section of the Department Pure and Applied Chemistry, University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, UK. The prize is given to a European scientist who has made substantial contributions to the advancement of analytical chemistry research or education in the last five years.
The 2021 DAC-EuChemS Award lecture is given to Aldo Roda, Professor at the Laboratory of Analytical and Bioanalytical Chemistry, Department of Chemistry "G. Ciamician" Alma Mater Studiorum-University of Bologna, Italy. This award is presented to a European scientist who has demonstrated significant and sustained achievements in analytical chemistry research or education throughout their career.
The titles of the lectures and free registration are available here.
Slavica Ražić, Chair of the steering committee of DAC and professor at Belgrade University in Serbia, said: „No matter how the circumstances shape our activities in real life, it is important to keep the system of validation and express respect to extraordinary and valuable people and their accomplishments. That's why the Division of Analytical Chemistry of European Chemical Society (DAC-EuChemS) is organising a webinar and hosting the awardees of the DAC-EuChemS Award, Professor Aldo Roda, and the Robert Kellner Lecture (RKL), Professor Karen Faulds. This online event will be a platform for the celebration of analytical science. Thanks go to Springer and EuChemS for traditionally good cooperation and support.”
Steffen Pauly, Editorial Director for chemistry at Springer Nature explained: “Pursuing our mission of advancing discovery also in analytical chemistry, we gladly support DAC-EuChemS in recognizing outstanding researchers through these awards. This reflects our close ties to the European analytical chemistry community. The journal Analytical and Bioanalytical Chemistry, for example, co-owned by major European Chemical Societies, provides a forum for excellent research in this field.”
EuChemS, the European Chemical Society, is an umbrella organisation representing national Chemical Societies and other chemistry-related organisations in Europe. EuChemS aims to nurture a platform for scientific discussion and to provide a single, unbiased European voice on key policy issues in chemistry and related fields. Representing more than 160,000 chemists from 50 Member Societies and other chemistry-related organisations, EuChemS relies on a unique network of active researchers involved in all the fields of chemistry. Through this network, EuChemS organises several specialised academic conferences as well as the biannual EuChemS Chemistry Congress, the European congress of chemical sciences. EuChemS also promotes the role and image of the chemical sciences among the general public and policy-makers through social media, newsletters and through the organisation of conferences and workshops open to society. Through the promotion of chemistry and by providing expert and scientific advice, EuChemS aims to contribute to solutions for today ́s major societal challenges.
