This book comprises select proceedings of the First International Conference on Geomatics in Civil Engineering (ICGCE 2018). This book presents latest research on applications of geomatics engineering in different domains of civil engineering, like structural engineering, geotechnical engineering, hydraulic and water resources engineering, environmental engineering and transportation engineering. It also covers miscellaneous applications of geomatics in a wide range of technical and societal problems making use of geospatial information, engineering principles, and relational data structures involving measurement sciences. About the editors

Dr. Jayanta Kumar Ghosh is Associate Professor in the Civil Engineering Department, Geomatics engineering group at the Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee. He holds a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering (Remote Sensing) from IIT Roorkee. He has supervised 38 Masters and 14 Ph.D. students, and has published more than 100 papers in scientific conferences and reputed journals, as well as two scientific books in the area of Geomatics. He has been engaged in teaching, research and consultancy works in geomatics engineering for more than 33 years. His areas of interest include geomatics engineering, remote sensing, GPS, geodesy, AI, soft computations, automated system development and cognition. 

 

Dr. Irineu da Silva is Associate Professor of civil engineering in the Department of Transportation Engineering at the University of Sao Paulo, Brazil. He received his Ph.D. in Geodetic sciences from the Federal University of Lausanne. He has guidedseveral Masters and Ph.D. students over the years, and has published more than 80 papers in reputed journals and scientific conferences. He has also written two scientific books on Geomatics. Dr. da Silva's field of research is related to geomatics quality and geodetic structural monitoring. He has been invited as a keynote speaker in more than 20 scientific conferences, and he has been on the editorial board of several international journals. In 2007, he received the Order of Cartographic Merit from the Brazilian Society of Cartography.
