Meet the Editors-in-Chief

Dr. Ales Fajgelj and Dr. Adriaan van der Veen have taken the role of Editor-in-Chiefs for Accreditation and Quality Assurance as of January 2018. Find out about their views on the journal's future direction in their Editorials. 


Dr. Ales Fajgelj

Ales Fajgelj has graduated from the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology of the University of Ljubjana, Slovenia and has specialized there in analytical and radiochemistry obtaining master and PhD degree. Ales Fajgelj has been active all his professional life in the area of quality assurance in analytical chemistry and has been actively involved in IUPAC, ISO REMCO, EURACHEM, CITAC, CCQM. For almost twenty years Ales Fajgelj was chairing the IUPAC Interdivisional Working Party on Harmonization of Quality Assurance Schemes for Analytical Laboratories and has served two terms as President of the IUPAC Analytical Chemistry Division. He has been involved in preparation of more than 90 scientific/technical publications, including various ISO and EURACHEM & CITAC guides and three books published by the Royal Society of Chemistry. Since 1994 Ales Fajgelj is employed by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in Vienna as Quality Systems Manager of the Department of Nuclear Sciences and Applications.

Dr. Adriaan van der Veen

Adriaan van der Veen studied Chemistry in Utrecht, the Netherlands, and obtained in his PhD in physical chemistry in 1997 at the same university. He has been working since 1994 at VSL, the Dutch National Metrology Institute, first as scientist, and now as chief scientist. He is an expert in gas analysis and authored several publications in this area. Also since 1994, he has been an active member of several ISO committees and is currently the chairman of ISO/TC158 Analysis of Gases.
