Acta Mechanica - Call for Papers - Special Issue on Advanced CFD modeling for real-world internal and external fluid dynamics problems

Guest editors:
Francesco De Vanna, assistant professor, University of Padova, Padova, IT

This Special Issue seeks to gather cutting-edge concepts about modeling real-world flows typical of internal/external engineering fluid dynamics systems. Substantial emphasis will be placed on validating advanced techniques in applicative geometries, such as aerodynamic components, turbomachinery, energy conversion systems, and flow devices. A significant focus will be directed towards achieving a deeper understanding of physically intricate phenomena that prove challenging to describe using conventional CFD methods. In addition, substantial attention will be dedicated to elucidating the methodological intricacies of articulating the numerical techniques employed for analysis. Furthermore, the fusion of advanced CFD strategies with AI-derived methods holds significance in this volume. This encompasses novel turbulence model formulations, pioneering approaches for flows bounded by walls, or new CFD paradigms.

Submissions will undergo the standard peer review process adequate for original papers, which should have size, quality, and originality appropriate to an archival scientific Journal. The Guest Editors of the Special Issue will receive the papers and conduct the review process. Once the review process is completed, the final decision on publication will be made by the Managing Editor, who will ensure that all manuscripts published in Acta Mechanica meet the Aims and Scope of the Journal and are of sufficient quality.

Please, note that we must try to comply strictly with the following publication Schedule:

Communication of intention to submit a paper: 19 November 2023
Deadline for submission of full manuscript: 1   March 2024
Result of first round of reviews: 1   May 2024
Revision and results of second round of reviews: 31 July 2024
Production: 15 January 2025 (expected)

Following your sending us acceptance to submit and tentative title, you will be informed about the procedure required for manuscript web submission.
