Zielsetzung der Zeitschrift

Die Operative Orthopädie und Traumatologie wendet sich an alle operativ tätige Ärztinnen und Ärzte im Bereich der Orthopädie, Traumatologie, Allgemeinchirurgie, Handchirurgie, Sportmedizin, Ärztinnen und Ärzte anderer chirurgischer Fachrichtungen sowie niedergelassenen Unfallchirurginnen und -chirurgen, Orthopädinnen und Orthopäden sowie Rheumatologinnen und Rheumatologen, die zur Patientenberatung und Operationsvorbereitung wie auch zur Nachsorge fundierte Informationen zu aktuellen Operationsmethoden benötigen.

Die Zeitschrift stellt bewährte und neue Operationsverfahren in einheitlich strukturierten und aufwendig illustrierten Beiträgen dar. Von den Indikationen, Kontraindikationen, der Patientenaufklärung, Operationsvorbereitung und Operationsetappen bis hin zur Nachsorge werden alle Gesichtspunkte Schritt für Schritt vorgestellt. Auch auf Vor- und Nachteile, mögliche Komplikationen, Fehler und Gefahren der Methoden sowie aussagekräftige Ergebnisse mit ihren Bewertungskriterien wird eingegangen.

Damit bietet die Operative Orthopädie und Traumatologie allen operativ tätigen Ärztinnen und Ärzte, aber auch allen, deren Schwerpunkte auf spezialisierten oder konservativen Gebieten liegen, wichtige Entscheidungshilfen; sie stellt mehr als 30 Jahre nach ihrem ersten Erscheinen im Fachschrifttum eine ansehnliche, auch die aktuellen Entwicklungen enthaltende Operationslehre dar.

 Aims & Scope

Orthopedics and Traumatology is directed toward all orthopedic surgeons, trauma-tologists, hand surgeons, specialists in sports injuries, orthopedics and rheumatology as well as gene-al surgeons who require access to reliable information on current operative methods to ensure the quality of patient advice, preoperative planning, and postoperative care.

The journal presents established and new operative procedures in uniformly structured and extensively illustrated contributions. All aspects are presented step-by-step from indications, contraindications, patient education, and preparation of the operation right through to postoperative care. The advantages and disadvantages, possible complications, deficiencies and risks of the methods as well as significant results with their evaluation criteria are discussed. To allow the reader to assess the outcome, results are detailed and based on internationally recognized scoring systems.

Orthopedics and Traumatology facilitates effective advancement and further education for all those active in both special and conservative fields of orthopedics, traumatology, and general surgery, offers sup-port for therapeutic decision-making, and provides – more than 30 years after its first publication – constantly expanding and up-to-date teaching on operative techniques.

Review
All manuscripts submitted to the journal Operative Orthopädie und Traumatologie (including invited manuscripts) undergo a double-blind peer review process involving at least two independent experts.

All manuscripts submitted for publication presenting results from studies on probands or patients must comply with the Declaration of Helsinki.
