Aims and Scope

Networks of today are going through a rapid evolution. Different kinds of networks with different characteristics are emerging and they are integrating in heterogeneous networks. For these reasons, there are many interconnection problems which may occur at different levels in the hardware and software design of communicating entities and communication networks. These kinds of networks need to manage an increasing usage demand, provide support for a significant number of services, guarantee their QoS, and optimize the utilization of network resources. Therefore, architectures and algorithms in these networks become very complex and it seems imperative to focus on new models and methods as well as mechanisms, which can enable the network to perform adaptive behaviors. Now, the information services are constructed by new technologies like intelligent Edge, Fog, Cloud and Internet of Things (IoT)-based computing and networking. The intersection of these research areas with artificial intelligence (AI) is very important topic. The emergence of Edge Computing, Fog Computing, Cloud Computing and IoT Networks bring new research problems and issues. To address these problems, the submitted papers should focus on the interplay among the above computational platforms, networking, security, and intelligent computing methods.


The special issue will focus on the above aspects and will solicit papers that are presented at the AINA, CISIS, IMIS, NBiS, INCoS, BWCCA, 3PGCIC and EIDWT International Conferences. Papers are solicited from, but are not limited to, the following topics:

Review Result Notification: 15th November 2020

Submission Guidelines

Authors of accepted papers at AINA, CISIS, IMIS, NBiS, INCoS, BWCCA, 3PGCIC and EIDWT International Conferences will be invited to submit an extended version of their paper. In addition, any other high quality submission that fits the topics of this special issue is welcome.
All invited papers will be subjected to the same rigorous review process as the regular submissions to this special issue. Submitted articles must not have been previously published or currently submitted for publication elsewhere. For work that has been published previously in a workshop or conference, it is required that submissions to the special issue have at least 30% new content.

All submitted manuscripts must be formatted according to  Computing’s instructions for authors, which are available at https://www.springer.com/607. We will accept only LaTeX manuscripts (LaTeX template to be found under Submission Guidelines/Instructions for Authors/Text).

Manuscript Length

Please note that the page limit for Special Issue submissions differs from that of regular Computing submissions. Manuscripts submitted to the Special Issue should not exceed 20 pages. Submissions that do not comply with this requirement are likely to be desk rejected without being reviewed.
