Manuscript Submission Deadline extends to : March 31, 2024

Call for Papers:

A Reconsideration for the Built Environment in Post-epidemic Era

General Information

In the context of the major health challenges facing the global human settlement environment since the outbreak of epidemic, it is important to understand and apply the possible solution for building a healthy city in the post-epidemic era. This special issue will contain research and discussion on the related design methods, evaluation models and some case studies of healthy human settlements at multiple scales, including healthy neighborhoods and healthy buildings. This special issue will focus on solving the key issues of human settlements response to the epidemic prevention and control and traditional green, low-carbon sustainable development from the three scales of cities, neighborhoods and buildings. Through different disciplines, architecture, engineering, urban planning, heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC), environmental science, computer science, experiments and simulations, public health, etc., scholars will comprehensively analyze the design and operation of indoor and outdoor healthy environments from the perspectives of health, comfort, safety, energy consumption, etc. This special issue introduces cutting-edge research topics/results for optimizing the built environment design and performance for a greener, healthier and lower carbon future.

Papers are solicited with the topics of interest including, but are not limited to:

  • Evaluation methods/models of the built environment in the post-epidemic era
  • Design methods for green, low-carbon and sustainable urban/buildings
  • Machine learning and intelligent optimization algorithms for optimizing the built environment and building performance
  • Performance optimization, dynamic control and intelligent IoT technologies in building operation phase
  • Impact of human behavior on building performance
