Aims and scope

Aims:
The urbanization process is ongoing worldwide. However, the characteristics of city development in different regions are various. Most of cities are growing fast, but on the other hand many cities are shrinking at the same time. In those growing cities, some are developing towards a high-rise and compact form and the others are developing in a scattered pattern.

Cities in Asia are usually high-rise and compact with higher population density, which exerts impacts on our living environment with a larger intensity and is drawing more attention.
Under different urbanization and development scenarios, the city and built environment are facing new challenges and becomes a major concern. Better understandings on related physical laws and sustainable technologies are badly needed.

The journal aims at attracting high quality research contents in the area of city and built environment. It is difficult to solve the above-mentioned scientific and technical problems within a single subject. This journal is a good way to bring in studies from different subjects with the same objective, i.e. creating a sustainable, healthy and smart city and built environment. By doing so, we are hoping to incubate interdisciplinary studies and provide new perspectives for achieving SDGs in a holistic manner.

Scope:
This journal will focus on newer fields related to various forms of urbanization and development, which resolves those related challenges from a world view perspective.

The emerging and fast developing research fields include but not limited to the following: low carbon design at building and city scale, healthy urban built environment, smart buildings, and cities, as well as relevant data management and utilization, urban climate, environment and energy planning at various scales.

The inner relationship between buildings and cities, as well as the complicated interactions among people, building and city will be emphasized. This journal is trying to fill the gap through connecting all the above-mentioned fields and will be a tremendous contribution to our city and built environment.

The topics include but not limited to the following:
    • Low Carbon City and Building Design
    • Healthy and Safe Urban Built Environment
    • Smart City and Data Management
    • Environment and Energy Planning
    • City Planning
    • Urban Climate
    • Urban Water System
    • Municipal Administration and Citizenship
