The special issue is dedicated to selected contributions from the 3rd BioMaH “Biomaterials and Novel Technologies for Healthcare” Conference held in Rome in October 18-21, 2022 https://biomah.ism.cnr.it (this opens in a new tab). BioMaH is an international biennial interdisciplinary forum of major experts in the field of healthcare sciences, contributing in solving challenging problems in medicine. Its main goal is to provide a close interaction, cooperation and networking between clinicians, surgeons and scientists from all over the world in discussion of possible innovative research solutions for patient’s needs.

The main topics of this special issue follow the 10 sessions organized at the 3rd BioMaH:

  • Advanced materials in Orthopaedics
  • Advanced functional materials for orthopaedic and spine surgery
  • Materials and novel technologies for biomedical implants and implant coatings
  • Materials for dental applications
  • Bioactive glasses
  • Cranioplasty materials and tumor models
  • Materials in cardiovascular surgery
  • Biofabrication
  • Tissue regeneration and infection treatment
  • Innovative ceramic and composite materials
