Discover Materials - Meet the Editor-in-Chief for Discover Materials

New Content Item“I am delighted to announce the launch of the journal Discover Materials as a key venue for the science community to share their advances in materials research. We intend that the key topics and topical collections published in the journal will contribute to a better understanding of materials, how we can exploit their multiple functionalities, and how to design them and apply that knowledge to devices, systems and products, crosscutting a plethora of scientific and application areas.”
 

Rodrigo Martins is a Full Professor at the Faculty of Sciences and Technology of New University of Lisbon, Portugal; running President of the European Academy of Sciences; Head of the Materials Science Department of NOVA-STS; member of the Portuguese Academy of Engineering and of the Portuguese Order of Engineers; Vice president of the International Union of Materials Research Societies, IUMRS; Co-chair of the European Energy Materials industry Research Initiative, EMIRI; founder and director of the Centre of Excellence in Microelectronic and Optoelectronic Processes of Uninova; and leader of the Materials, Optoelectronics and Nanotechnologies group of I3N/CENIMAT. He is an expert in the field of Functional Materials for Electronics and Energy applications, a pioneer in the work on transparent electronics and one of the inventors of paper electronics. He has given more than 250 plenary and keynote talks related to advanced functional materials and their applications, as well as on Science and Technology Policy strategy for the future, highlighting the Mission concept as cross-cutting different fields, like a metro station, with different lines and stations where we can change lines. Moreover, he has more than 685 papers published in WoS and following Google Scholar, he has an impact factor of 72 and more than 35000 citations.  He is also a member of the following relevant committees: Steering Committee of European materials platform, Alliance for Materials; Joint Innovation Centre for Advanced Material Sino-Portuguese; Editorial Board of Advanced Electronics Materials; Journal Nanomaterials; Journal of Physics D; management board of the Nature Research journal npj 2D Materials and Applications.
