Aims and scope

This international peer‐reviewed journal represents a forum for experts such as  management scientists, engineers, natural scientists, decision makers, entrepreneurs, economists, social and political scientists, and industry experts to discuss in a systematic way the concepts of Circular Economy (CE) and Sustainability (S), in order to bring to the forefront a new and interdisciplinary approach of these two concepts. The journal’s aim is to promote the innovation process from technological solutions to economic, social and environmental solutions in the context of circular economy and sustainability. The journal welcomes papers that integrate at least two dimensions of circular economy and sustainability from different scientific fields. Topics covered in the journal include, but are not limited to:

  • Micro level: clean technologies, nature-based solutions, ecological engineering and technology (e.g., waste management, water engineering, sanitation and wastewater treatment, air quality, clean energy, green materials, microplastics, emerging micropollutants, built environment, transportation, industrial processes, bioremediation, risk assessment, ecotoxicology, etc.), green building, green design, green chemistry, climate change and global warming, 5r strategies (reduce, repair, reuse, refurbish, recycle), sustainable water use and resource recovery, sustainable drainage systems, urban agriculture, food security, household-centered approaches, energy efficiency and renewable energy, bioenergy, limitation of greenhouse gas emissions, ecosystem services, natural capital-biodiversity and habitats, sustainable manufacturing, digital technology in CE, eco-efficiency, green marketing for CE, green advertising for CE, blue - green infrastructure.
  • Meso-level: industrial ecology, industrial symbiosis, eco-clusters, eco-industrial parks, reverse logistics policies, green logistics, green supply chain management policies, water-food-energy nexus.
  • Macro level: environmental policy for CE, bioeconomy, green production initiatives and/or green consumption, e-commerce and CE, industrial sustainability, market-based instruments and CE, command and control instruments for CE, CE-labels and infrastructure, public infrastructure for CE.
