MRS Energy & Sustainability - Call for Papers for Strategies for a Greener Future: Enhancing Materials and Energy Lifecycles

The special collection emphasizes sustainable resource utilization for a cleaner future and healthy social development. It recognizes the intertwined nature of Materials and Energy, advocating for non-destructive resource lifecycles. Utilizing solar and geothermal energy sources is proposed to minimize material "loss" to < ~0.5% / year to ensure a high level of sustainability in supporting a circular economy transition. The collection underscores the importance of research in materials design, recycling, and upfront development of materials, technologies, and devices. Strategies include increasing energy materials' recyclability, minimizing waste in manufacturing, and extending product lifetimes. The goal is to enhance the resilience of energy materials and infrastructure through innovative approaches, paving the way for a greener and more resilient future.
