Aims and scope

MRS Communications is an archival journal that focuses on the latest advancements across the spectrum of materials research. MRS Communications is intended to widely disseminate transformative ideas and cutting-edge discoveries in our highly interdisciplinary field and to complement the current MRS portfolio of technical publications, including but not limited to the scope of topics included at MRS meetings.  MRS Communications publishes shorter but complete manuscripts (letters) of high intellectual value, long-term impact, and with broad coverage of advanced materials research. In addition to the rapid communication formats for urgent and impactful discoveries, a unique aspect of the journal is the “prospective” article type. Prospective articles are forward-looking reviews that provide a view of trends and future potential for topics of broad interest to the materials community. The audience includes materials researchers from any institution including national laboratories, industry and academia.
