MRS Bulletin Postdoctoral Publication Prize
The MRS Bulletin Postdoctoral Publication Prize recognizes postdoctoral researchers for their intellectual merit and for their ability to demonstrate effective writing and communications through an interest in scientific publications. Candidates should show promise for future scientific contributions and scholarship in the broad materials field as well as demonstrated interest in scientific writing and communications.
Application Information
Purpose
The MRS Bulletin Postdoctoral Publication Prize recognizes postdoctoral researchers for their intellectual merit and for their ability to demonstrate effective writing and communications through an interest in scientific publications. Candidates should show promise for future scientific contributions and scholarship in the broad materials field as well as demonstrated interest in scientific writing and communications.
Prize recipient receives:
- $1000 cash award
- Profile published in MRS Bulletin
- Complimentary one-year membership in the Materials Research Society
- Invitation to publish in MRS Bulletin
- Recognition at MRS Fall Meeting, Boston
Eligibility
Candidates need not be a current member of the Materials Research Society to apply. Candidates must be a postdoctoral scholar/researcher at the time of application—at least six months post-PhD, but no more than five years post-PhD.
Application
Nominations and self-nominations are permitted, and should include:
1. Cover letter/one-page statement
2. Resume/CV, including list of publications
3. 3–6 samples of published work
4. One of the following (no more than one page, including a figure, if needed):
a. Perspective-type news article
b. Proposal (extended abstract) for review article

Important Dates
The application deadline for the 2023 Prize is July 31, 2023. The winner will be announced October 1, 2023.
Administration
The MRS Bulletin Editorial Board will evaluate nominations and self-nominations from the pool of qualified applicants to select the recipient of the MRS Bulletin Postdoctoral Publication Prize. MRS acknowledges the Jiang Family Foundation and MTI Corporation for their generous contribution to support this award.
